Telephone Repair Specialist - Fort Greely (Delta Junction), Alaska
Description: Responds to service requests and isolation and repair of telephone troubles in support of Telephone Mechanics for the US Army at Fort Greely, Alaska. Maintain, install, de-install, move or include copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cable as needed and as associated with the administrative telephone system. Maintains, installs, de-installs, removes and moves all instruments, service lines, and LAN cabling associated with task order by installation of CAT 4/5/6 and multi-pair cable up to 8-pair cable. Installation and termination of fiber optic data cable. Installation of communications racks to include the punch down of voice and data circuits, labeling, and assignment of circuits. All work to be performed to accepted trade practices, manufacturer's guidelines, and/or guidelines established by the work center supervisor. On-call or emergency work requests may be required.
Qualifications: Minimum of a High School Diploma and three years related experience and/or training. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Current Alaska driver's license and Secret Government clearance (must be able to obtain and maintain clearance in order to continue employment).
This position is located at Fort Greely, Alaska and remains open until September 1, 2010. Fort Greely is a remote location and subject to extreme temperatures during winter months. A pay differential is associated with this position.
